Subzero came out to do a presentation for our Cub Scout troop. They had so much Energy and kept the kids engaged by performing science experiments with liquid nitrogen. They had the kids and adults laughing the whole time. Afterwards they served 3 flavors of ice cream and even offered non dairy options for some.of our kids with allergies. Highly recommend.
Cool experience to do every once in a while. Kids would definitely enjoy seeing the ice cream being made with the nitrogen. I like that there were different ice cream bases, flavors, and add ins to chose from. I went with a whole milk base, vanilla, with oreo and cookie dough bits. It was a little loud due to the ice cream being formed but considering it was a hot day I would take that over the heat outside. There wasn't a lot of seating but enough for my group of 5. The ice cream is a little pricey but again still worth doing it from time to time.
Very awesome place. Ladies were very knowledgeable and eager to help. Ambiance is sort of like a 50's diner. Has the super cool booths and seating. Ice cream was pretty good and watching them make it with the nitrogen was the coolest. Definitely try it and you will like it
Mm! This restaurant never fails to lift my spirit in a day with a lack there of! I got a vanilla ice cream with two mixins: strawberry and blueberry! It was ab-suh-loot-lee de-li-shis! I recommend coming to this ice cream resort when traveling down town and looking for a place with a sweet treat! Definitely stop by.
This was the cutest date. Its like hibachi of ice cream lol. You literally watch them turn your milk into ice cream. It was packed when we walked in and we were helped by the next 5 minutes. The people behind the counter are great at getting you in and out. The service we experienced was super helpful with explaining everything and fast. First you chose a size cup which ranges from Kiddie to a quart. Then you chose your base. You can have ice cream, custard, yogurt and some other options. Then its the fun part FLAVORS!! They have over 30 flavors to chose from and you can combine them too. They have premade combinations on the wall if you dont want to customize your treat. Next you add your mix ins. Thats your sprinkles, peanuts, and other fun stuff. I went with a small ice cream base, flavored with Coffee/Brownie Batter. My mix ins were cookie dough and graham crumbles. DELICIOUS This ice cream shop on mass ave next to Chatterbox Jazz club. So its limited to street parking no lot. But its most likely a beautiful day outside if your coming in for ice cream and might not mind a little walk. Only slight is that it is small and several children were pushing coming between the line and the seating area behind the nitrogen tank.
Great ice cream place on mass Ave. So many options for flavors and toppings. They have multiple options for ice creams too. Quick service when I was there and friendly staff. The inside is pretty much a standard ice cream shop. Great place with lots of great options. In a very walkable area!
Amazing service and so kind! Not a bad price for the size you get the experience was exciting and fun !
This was my first experience at this type of creamery. It was amazing The staff was friendly and explained some of their experiences with liquid nitrogen. Also they are LGBTQ+ friendly and that is a bonus making the experience welcoming for all
Great time. There is a warning about the almond milk ice cream so definitely read it before you order it
Not only is this place cool but they have really cool workers! They have the selection of flavors right before your very eyes. Then when you make the selection and pick all your favorite toppings they let the magic happen right in front of you! And if you have kids it's even more sun to see them react to the nitrogen flowing over the counter ;)We had our small dog with us and she was interested in the bowl being mixed and all the cool machines. The store has really cool/funny names to their ice creams and the workers do like to have conversations here so don't be afraid to chat it up with them. It seems a little slow here so I'm sure they get a tad bored while waiting for customers. Either way I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a yummy treat and a cool experience. They even have a lot of seating inside so enjoy your stay
It was good. You are definitely paying for the experience of seeing your ice cream frozen right in front of you. Fun for an occasion but more expensive than I would normally choose. The ice cream itself was a large portion size and certainly not disappointing- but not exceptional either.
It was a nice little surprise, was very pleasing for a hot day, the lady running the front counter was great you could tell she liked her job, well atleast at this moment, was informative an talked about the process definitely worth a shot
This place is AMAZING! Love the fact that there is many, many, options to choose from! And watching them prepare it is so much fun! Definitely will be back!
This place is a fun! And if you don't like the flavors you have no one to blame but yourself for ordering what you did. ;) Here's what I love: -It's just an experience. The cold smoke, the fact you get to see your liquid selections become ice cream!-The location. I almost always get mine to go and eat it while strolling.-So many options! -I like the almond milk base (totally unsweetened and they warn you in big bold letters that if you expect sweet and are disappointed you won't get a refund). I get peanut butter flavoring and add PB cups. - I get my kids the yogurt base (it's sweet but not overly so) and they love to pick their own mix-in and flavoring.Here's what I'd love to see from SubZero: - A different seating situation. When there's a line you're kind of blocked into your booth. - Benches or seating outside somehow. - A rewards program! I'm a sucker for a punch card.- Some way to give folks time to see menu options before they're so close to it being "their turn". The menu isn't super visible until you're right up there by where you order. With SO many options it might help the line move along if people can decide before they're in the ordering spot.
The unique ice cream is delicious and custom mixed how you would like it. The process is fun to watch. Simply 1. Choose Your Base (Original cream, reduced fat, etc.), 2. Choose Your Flavor(s) from one of the 35 options, 3. Choose Your Mix-ins (candy, nuts, or fruit), 4 Watch it Freeze with a blast of LN2 (liquid nitrogen), watch your liquid treat become a frozen dessert right before your eyes!
The ice cream is super delicious and it's made right there! The people are very friendly as well.
